Artist Bio


Kiichi Takeuchi was born in Tokyo, Japan, and relocated to New York in 1998. He earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Long Island University. After a 25-year career developing applications and software, Takeuchi shifted his focus to the arts, pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramic Art beginning in 2022.

He currently maintains and leads the 3D printer study group at the Craft Center and has presented proposals on ceramic applications of 3D printing at NCECA in both 2023 and 2024. Takeuchi is actively involved in wood firing and kiln building at Trevor Youngberg’s Anagama in Connecticut. His wood-fired whiskey cups were exhibited at the Del Ray Artisans National Ceramic Show in Virginia in 2022, and he presented his work at the New England Wood Firing Conference in 2024. Additionally, he co-curated and exhibited Fiat Ignis 2024, a wood-fired ceramic art exhibition, at Gallery 60 NYC.
